Every nation has legends about mysterious places that heal illness and sorrow. For centuries Christian and pagan beliefs have crossed paths in Bulgaria, and Strandzha keeps many such sacred places and springs.
02Southern Black Sea coast
Perhaps the last almost untouched beach on the southern Black Sea coast
Zeytinburun, better known as Maslen Nos, lies in the southern part of the Buruna peninsula, between Stomoplo Bay and the mouth of the Ropotamo river. St Paraskeva Bay splits Buruna in two, and the tip of its southern part ends with Maslen Nos.
03Primorsko
An ancient, mystical Thracian sanctuary
Just 3 km north-east of Primorsko, on the ridge of Maslen Nos where Strandzha embraces the coast, hides the megalithic rock sanctuary of Beglik Tash. It is the largest mark the Thracians left on the southern Black Sea coast, and science only learned of it in 2003.
04Tatul, Momchilgrad
Mystery, magic and legends
Three places a few kilometres apart: the Thracian sanctuary at Tatul, the Petrified Forest and the Waterfall of Screams. All three can be visited in one trip.
